International Women's Day - it should be every day!

Updated: Mar 8

Every year on 8th March, X&Y Fertility celebrates International Women's Day. This is a day where we can celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Hold on a minute though, shouldn't we be celebrating #IWD every day?

At X&Y Fertility, we strive to promote a gender equal world - whoever you are. We aim for a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Our clientelle represent the diversity of today's world, whether you be straight, LGBTQ+, in a relationship or not. Everybody has the right to have a family.

Some facts about International Women’s Day

Did you know this day was first held way back in 1911?

Ever since, this day in March has been a call to action for continued promotion of women's equality #inspireinclusion

As our fertility clinic is proudly based in Leicester, we celebrate many strong and successful women from our region, including:

Alice Hawkins

Alice was our local suffragette, who represented the boot and shoe machinists of Leicester. Alice supported the Women’s Social and Political Union and even went to prison five times for acts committed on their behalf.

She is celebrated with a statue in Leicester's Green Dragon Square.

Esua Goldsmith

Esua was the University of Leicester Students’ Union President in the 1970s. As the first woman of colour to hold this role, Esua helped to drive the University of Leicester's fight for equality.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women's equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias and #EmbraceEquity
